The latest project concerns surface finishes & solderability with focus on immersion Ag. The purpose with the project is to obtain our own opinion and expand our experience about different preconditionings. Today it is very common that the knowledge is taken directly from the Internet but the quality and reliability gained from industrial lab tests made in real life, is outstanding, says Bo Andersson, Technical manager, NCAB Group

Short about the project:
24 panels have been produced , 4 layers, 70 my copper on innerlayer.
2.0 laminate. Surface finish immersion silver, manufacture Alpha Star.
Pre treatment has varied from ”as received” to prebaked 2h 120°, three simulated solder operations and a solderability test.

The project has so far showed very promising and we have not been able to prove something negative regardless of pre treatment. Complete report, where material evaluation is included, will be ready soon.
